K-pop artist: New genes, a group of pop artists, has changed its name amid an ongoing legal dispute in South Korea, the change was announced on Friday. In a conversation with CNN, the five-member group said it will now be known as NJZ, while band member Pham Ngoc Hanh, previously known as Honey, will be changing its name.
The rebranding is a way to make this difficult time a little more exciting as the group confirmed they will perform under their new name for the first time at the Complex Con Hong Kong festival in March. The band will also perform a new song at the three-day event.
“We are working a lot to sort out everything so we can get back to normal,” Pham said in a phone interview with CNN. The 20-year-old singer said the band doesn’t want its legal dispute with record label Adore to “be the center of our career.
New seens emerged as one of South Korea’s most successful pop acts after topping the country’s charts with debut single “Attention” in 2022. The band achieved international success less than a year later with the EP “Get Up” (featuring the crossover hit “Super Shy”), which peaked at No.
